Blueprint 1.2 — Import Custom 3D Models
Partager
1.2 is a focused update. One feature, done properly.
Import Custom 3D Models
You can now import your own 3D models into any room. OBJ files with materials and textures — appliances, furniture, decorative objects, anything you want to see in the layout before you commit to it.
To import a model, open a project and enter the 3D room editor. Click the Import button in the toolbar — it is in the top right area next to the other room tools. A file picker opens. If your model has an MTL file and textures, select all the files together in one go — Blueprint needs them at the same time to load materials correctly. From there you can move it anywhere, rotate it on any axis, and scale it to match your real dimensions. It sits alongside your cabinets in the 3D view the same way any other object does.
This is useful for the things Blueprint does not model itself — a fridge, a dishwasher, a dining table, a sofa. You place them in the room, check that everything fits, and see the full picture before anything gets built or ordered.
Where to get models
Blueprint ships with a small set of sample models from the Kenney Furniture Kit, included under a CC0 license. They are there to get you started.
For everything else, here are three sources worth bookmarking.
Sweet Home 3D free model library is the best starting point for interior objects. The library covers kitchen appliances, bathroom fixtures, furniture, and more. Models are low-poly, practical, and sized correctly for interior use. Licensing varies per model — check before you use commercially.
CGTrader free OBJ models has a large searchable catalogue with a free tier. Quality is inconsistent but there are genuinely useful objects in there if you are willing to browse. Download and import directly — no conversion needed if the file is OBJ.
Kenney Furniture Kit is fully CC0 — no attribution required, free to use for any purpose. The style is simple and slightly game-like, but it works well for layout planning where you just need something to represent a piece of furniture rather than a photorealistic render.
What is next
The import feature opens up the visualisation side of Blueprint in a way that was not possible before. We are thinking about what comes next on that front.
If you are already using Blueprint, 1.2 is a free update. Import requires Standard Edition.
